Grilling and picnic season is officially here! If you plan on grilling out with loved ones this Memorial Day weekend or all summer, remember some important food safety tips: Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill!

ACHD provides free hearing and vision screenings for children entering preschool and/or kindergarten. Screenings are by appointment only at 3255 122nd Ave., Ste. 200 in Allegan. To schedule an appointment, call (269) 673-5411.

Warm weather is here, and so are ticks! Did you know ticks can spread diseases like Lyme disease? Protect yourself and your loved ones by taking precautions when outdoors and checking yourself for ticks after coming inside.
DURING outside activity:
Use bug spray that contains DEET
Wear light-colored, protective clothing
Tuck pant legs into socks
Avoid tick habitats like brushy, wooded areas
AFTER being outside, prevent tick bites by:
Perform “tick checks” on humans and pets after being outdoors, even in your own yard.
Check clothing and remove ticks from your clothes - light-colored clothing makes ticks easier to see.
Shower soon after coming inside.
Place clothes in a dryer on high heat for at least 10 minutes to kill ticks you might have missed.

Michigan passed a new law to improve school readiness. It is now recommended that all children have a dental assessment before kindergarten or the first year of school. Learn more at https://www.mydental.org/caring-for-young-teeth-parents-allegan/
